Welcome to Farm-to-Table!

We invite you to join us in building a sustainable local food system among the prairies and badlands of Eastern Montana and Western North Dakota.

Current Farm-to-Table projects include compiling a Local Buyer's Guide to help you find local food in our region (or if you are a grower or producer, to help customers find you), forming the Farm-to-Table Co-op, an ag marketing co-op that will market member's produce and products to local stores, restaurants, and food services, etc, and Western Trails Food, a value added food business featuring hulless barley in pancake, bread and soup mixes. It now features locally grown beans plus a great bean sauce and grill sauce.

We have also been assisting Dawson Community College in their planning process for a Culinary Arts program. Culinary Classes are now underway, taught by chef Garth Clingingsmith. Culinary classes will train chefs to work with local growers and producers as well as the skills of food preparation, safety and management. Plans are developing with state funds for Food and Ag Development Centers for a shared use Commercial Kitchen that will increase opportunities for value-added food production in our region. Farm-to-Table was one of four in the state to receive this two-year grant in the fall of 2009.

What's New

May HACCP Training for Montana Food Manufacturers

Are you a food processor or a handler of fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy, food-grade oilseeds, pulses or grains? Are you interested in developing a food product for the market? Do you have questions on food regulations? What has to be on the label? How long is its shelf life? Are preservatives necessary? Who figures out nutritional labels? How is the price figured out? Where can it be sold? Then this workshop is for you! Please join us for this informational training on developing a food business.

The Farm-to-Table Store has new hours!

We're now open Wednesdays! Our new hours are Monday through Friday, 11am - 6pm; Saturday 10am - 3pm. Stop by the Eastern Plains Events Center (EPEC) at 313 S. Merrill in Glendive and see what goodies we've got in stock! More

The Community Garden has moved.

The new Community Garden will open May 1. The site is 53 Road 240. The plots are 10x20 and the cost is $10 each, one plot per person. More

Simply download the application and return it to us. Its as easy as that! Your products and contact information will be listed on our website if you are from the MonDak region. Look for it here (coming soon).

Join the Farm-to-Table Ag Marketing Co-op

Invest in "buy fresh, buy local". Expand the Ag marketing Cooperative in the MonDak region so local products are in grocery stores, restaurants and institutions. Producers or land owners can be voting members. $500/share. One member, one vote. Those who are supporters but not producers can buy preferred shares at $500 per share. More

Is your community interested in an Americorps member to help start Farm to Table projects in your area? Contact us for more information.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer a couple hours a week as a clerk at the Farm-to-Table Store, or help with market research to find the best products, local or state sources for products, and not duplicate what's already available locally.

Western Trails Food volunteers make and package pancake & bread mixes, do barley flakes and beans labeling, stone grinding of flour, cleaning beans and grains. We also give volunteer mileage receipts for delivery of wholesale orders to stores across Montana.
