Join Us!
We invite you to join us in building a sustainable local food system among the prairies and badlands of Eastern Montana and Western North Dakota.
Current Farm-to-Table projects include:
- Compiling a Local Buyer's Guide to help you find local food in our region (or, if you are a grower or producer, to help customers find you).
- Increase membership in the Farm-to-Table Co-op, an ag marketing co-op to market member's produce and products to local stores, restaurants, and food services.
- Western Trails Food, a value added food business featuring hulless barley in pancake, bread and soup mixes. It now features locally grown dry beans plus a great bean sauce and grill sauce.
- Farm-to-Table has been offering culinary night classes and workshops with chef Garth Clingingsmith through Dawson Community College. DCC is looking to offer an associate and certificate degree in Culinary Arts. Culinary classes will train chefs to work with local growers and producers as well as the skills of food preparation, safety and management.
- Glendive is home to a Food Development Center for a shared use Commercial Kitchen that will increase opportunities for value-added food production in our region.
- Community garden offering 10x20 plots with well and deer fence. Land is rototilled ready for planting in the spring. Cost is $10/plot. Conventional and organic plots. The high hoop tunnel extends the growing season by 4 months.
- The high hoop tunnel project is experimenting with commercial crops to expand the crop selection in the MonDak region for those interested in eating local and as export crops. Attend the Sept 9 high tunnel field day in Glendive to learn more about production using this growing technology. Lunch by chef Garth Clingingsmith. To register call Dawson County Extension Service (377-4277) or email dawextn@midrivers.com.
